Those that work in the transportation industry know that even on a slow day you will be dealing with thousands of dollars in transportation costs on top of the cost of the material being transported itself. This makes shippers very selective when it comes to which transportation carriers and brokers they will allow to move their products to. The picture that we are trying to paint is that every aspect of a successful transportation company has to display exceptional quality, especially when it comes to the staff.
My Freight Staff wants to maintain its position as a premiere recruitment company in the U.S. Transportation and Logistics industry. In the industry it’s important to make a very solid first impression and deliver on your promises. Our promise to our clients is that every VA Candidate that is presented to them is qualified to be efficient and productive almost immediately, only needing to be trained on the client’s specific way of operating. When it comes to our Virtual Assistants, we are looking to obtain the best of the best. That is, we are looking for those individuals that make MFS look good during the selection and interview process, and make our clients look good when involved in day to day transactions.
So how do you make yourself and the companies you represent look good? The answer is simple really. Your goal is not only to study and learn the terms and standard procedures of the transportation industry during training but also to study the Standard procedures of the Client and be verbal about ways that you can help them be more productive or profitable. This might mean introducing skills that you have that the client may not have been aware of (i.e Marketing, graphic design, web-desing, sales, etc). Always be resourceful and make effort to use the web to brush up on things you may not be confident about. Additional study of the industry on your own is also a plus. The more you can display your industry knowledge during interview the more likely that you are to be hired and the more you contribute to the client’s success the more likely you are to grow financially with the client for years to come.
